A resurgent the Russian player claimed his first trophy for nearly 30 months with victory over opponent Moutet in the competition title decider.

Medvedev, a former number one, has experienced a torrid year, achieving just one win at the big events and suffering a meltdown at the American major.

Medvedev's varied form on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serve in specific - caused him exiting of the top ten and ultimately parting ways with long-term mentor Gilles Cervara.

Presently training with Johansson and his other coach, he has consistently progressed in the recent weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought three-set triumph over challenger Corentin Moutet.

It is the player's initial trophy following the Rome competition and initial on a hardcourt after spring of that year.

The win also indicates he has achieved twenty-one victories at 21 different events.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a tournament with my two daughters at once, so to secure a title is particularly special," commented tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my younger daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I won when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his past six title deciders, comprising in that event in the past months.

Medvedev's counter-punching play style and recurring outbursts on court had led some to doubt if his ability to compete at the highest level was over.

But the athlete has implemented adjustments in the past month, attempting to advance forward and play aggressively, reinforced by an improved serve.

He came back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the challenging Frenchman, securing four of the concluding five games to take the lead.

Both players exchanged service breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, bidding for his maiden ATP Tour victory, gained dominance to force a third set.

He rescued 4 initial break points in a close third set before the champion won the break to fifteen to secure the win.

Suitably, the winner earned the title with a point at the net, with Moutet unable to handle a shot after a lengthy match.
