'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Ethan Galbraith renews clash with Manchester City.

Ethan Galbraith breaks into a smile as he recalls the dramatic closing stages of his team's stunning fightback victory against Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup. The game wrapped up with Galbraith temporarily wearing a fan's glasses amid the on-field celebration.

During the final moments of stoppage time, Galbraith struck the post with a powerful strike from 25 yards, and the defender immediately converted the deflection before sprinting toward the East Stand to mark the goal, with supporters swarming the players.

Remarkable Recovery

The victory sealed an unbelievable recovery given the team had found themselves down 2-0 during the final 45 minutes. Amid the euphoria, there was some unintended consequences. He shared, "There was a spectator trying to get our attention and myself and Keysy [Josh Key] were puzzled: 'What's he on about here?' Then we noticed the glasses. It was a funny incident putting them on. We are on the pitch as players but we're humans, too, so to have a joke with the fans is always good."

Premier League Giants

The victory booked a next round game at home against Pep Guardiola's side on Wednesday, a team Galbraith came close against at the equivalent round of the FA Cup with Leyton Orient in February. Galbraith had an excellent perspective when his former team took the lead in stunning style, with a teammate's first-time shot from about way out going in via the crossbar and the City goalkeeper. It feels criminal that it was credited as an own goal.

"You would have hoped they would've given it to him for having a go from that distance," stated Galbraith, who began the game centrally before switching to right flank after Orient changed shape. That meant facing off against Jack Grealish, with whom he traded tops, and the player was among the opposition who complimented the way Orient attacked the game.

Opponent's Class

"Athletically they are outstanding but even the basics and basic skills, they can just do it over and over again," he explains. "It appears that they complete every delivery and they understand how to manage and neutralize a game. You can think you're all right and then suddenly they will just deliver a through ball past your midfield without you even spotting it. You have to be alert every second of the game. It requires a resilient mindset and attention just to keep pace."

Welsh Transition

The Welsh side were keen on Galbraith in January and beat off competition to bring him in in the summer in a seven-figure transfer. He made a name as a fans' favourite across multiple campaigns at Orient and has rapidly done the same in his new home. At the London club he linked up again with Richie Wellens, who earlier gave Galbraith his debut prolonged spell in first-team action on loan at Doncaster from Old Trafford. Then came a temporary move at lower division the Manchester club, before he moved on from Manchester United.

Growth Journey

"I was perhaps a somewhat inexperienced going into senior level. I think numerous professionals would say youth team games is completely distinct. Sometimes it appears play is circulated without serious challenge. There's not many physical contests. Once you start playing men's games you have to learn quickly."

Country Call-ups

He has shown that maturation for his team and nation, excelling for Northern Ireland, who are fighting to qualify for the international competition next summer via the knockout phase and for whom he has featured in the recent fixtures, including both legs games against the German national team. Ian Baraclough, Galbraith's ex- international manager, offered the ultimate compliment, saying he was Northern Ireland's "midfield general" given how he handles the football and his knack for a decisive through ball.

Early Days

This marks quite the ride for the youngster from the local area in Glengormley, just outside Northern Ireland's main city, who was raised observing his parent, the elder Galbraith, also a midfielder, play for Ballyclare Comrades.

Red Devils Debut

His sole appearance for the Red Devils came in Kazakhstan in 2019, a continental tournament trip to the Kazakh capital, where they featured on an artificial pitch and the venue ceiling was closed owing to the weather of -15C. "It was a extended travel and it was freezing," he says, grinning. "The week before, several youth players and I trained together, so that aided our adjustment. Just to accompany the senior squad and make an appearance at the end was unbelievable."

Leaving United

How hard was it to depart Manchester United, the club he signed from his boyhood team aged his mid-teens? "It was fairly simple, because I got to the stage where I knew I wasn't going to make it at the top level. I'm hugely grateful for the years at the club but it reached a stage where I felt I needed to go my own route, move to a lower level and play professional soccer. Now I'm steadily climbing the ladder."

New Environment

It is mid-afternoon at Swansea's Fairwood training base but Galbraith has an appointment at late afternoon: a driving theory test, another progress toward getting on the road. Prior to relocating to the local area, the young professional was a frequent passenger in Swansea's dubbed player transport, a minibus driven by club employees, Pete and Howard, which transports players to and from training and matches.

"My companions include a teammate, Ronald, the midfielder – a former passenger used to be in it but has begun using his own car. It's pleasant to socialize with the guys but I'm planning to be the next one out of the minibus and behind the wheel. His teammate is known for his humor; he's always up to all sorts."

Public Engagement

When he represented his former club, Galbraith would travel alongside followers on public transport after commuting at his base. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
